Considered one of the most important events in the container shipping calendar, Intermodal Europe 2012, once again saw increased attendee numbers this year at the Amsterdam RAI from 27-29 November.Over 40 free to attend conference sessions were held during the three day event, led by high profile speakers and covering important issues and topics such as IT innovations, green logistics, cargo security, intermodal evolution and sustainable shipping.

Some of the key conference sessions included a shippers' panel, a freight forwarders' panel and a world port strategy forum, which were all well attended and provided the opportunity for industry experts to share their knowledge and experience as well as answer questions from members of the audience. An Asia focussed conference session was particularly topical with the launch of Intermodal Asia 2014 announced during the event in Amsterdam.

The exhibition provided an insight into the future of the container and intermodal industry with exhibitors showcasing the latest equipment, systems, technology and services designed to improve operational productivity and efficiency. Exhibitor companies included Carrier Transicold, Maersk Container Industry, Cargotec, Cronos Container Group, Florens Container Services, TOUAX Group, TAL International Container Corporation, Daikin Industries Ltd, COA (Container Owners Association), CAI International (Container Applications International (UK) Limited), Valspar, Thermo King and Seaco.

The feedback from this year's event has been amazing and already a great number of exhibitors have signed up for Intermodal Europe 2013. Our exhibition floor plan for next year is over 75% full” adds Sophie Ahmed. “We have also had a lot of interest in Intermodal Asia 2014 which is great, particularly as Asia plays such an important part in the industry.

Intermodal Europe 2013 will take place at the Hamburg Messe in Germany, from 8-10 October and the first ever Intermodal Asia event will be held in Shanghai in March 2014.
